When it comes to Massage & Bodywork, the power of touch combined with a serene environment can work wonders for your health and well-being. From the gentle dimming of the lights to the soothing sounds of nature and calming instrumentals playing in the background, every detail is designed to help you relax. Cozy components such as aromatherapy and hot stone massage enhance relaxation and promote healing while creating a tranquil experience. During the chillier “‘ber” months blankets and pillows, as well as a table warmer, may be added to create both physical warmth and a visual feeling of coziness.

It’s easy to find relaxation and comfort in an environment that has been specifically tailored towards creating it. We want to encourage you to let such sensibilities carry over into your personal space and lifestyle. It’s as easy as making a few seasonal swaps and allowing your senses to dictate the direction of the season.

Autumn tucked me in her woodland home, a honeyed spot for my soul to roam.

Sight – This is the time to pull out all the Fall Decorations along with the oversized pillows and blankets, candles, and warm-toned decor. Don’t underestimate the power of a fuzzy rug, a knitted comforter and an oversized throw. Often the things we see visually  will impact us physically and psychologically. Visual comfort creates literal feelings of rest and calm. Whether you decide to go all out or just add a few touches to your usual furnishings, a visual change in atmosphere can be just what you need to relax on a chilly evening.

Smell – The “power of scent” refers to the profound influence smell has on our emotions, memories, and even behavior – a biological connection that explains why scents can trigger vivid recollections, evoke strong feelings, and enhance mood. The seasonal smells of spices and warm tones such as cinnamon, clove, ginger, vanilla, caramel, or coffee can can take us back to baking in the kitchen with grandma, or enjoying a cuppa in front of the fireplace, evoking feelings of calm, safety and warmth. These scents have been shown to aid in boosting mood, reducing stress, enhancing cognitive function and increasing feelings of happiness. Whether it’s a scented candle, cinnamon pinecones, an aromatherapy diffuser, a bowl of potpourri,  or something delicious cooking in the oven, we invite you to add Autumnal scents to your seasonal routine.

Sound – Our minds and bodies tend to respond positively to nature sounds, and Autumn is full of them – A gentle breeze, a soft rainfall, crunchy leaves, a crackling fireplace . . . These sounds capture the natural transition of the seasons and tend to bring a sense of tranquility with them. Enjoy the sounds of the season by enjoying a quiet outdoor walk, taking a long sit on the front porch, or by turning the station to one filled with instrumentals mixed with nature sounds. Breathe deep and let the environment envelop you in pleasant satisfaction.

Taste – Nothing says “Autumn” like roasted vegetables, freshly made soups, and still-warm-from-the-oven baked goods! These delightful delicacies not only tempt the tastebuds and please the appetite, they also offer wholesome substance and homey goodness. When we feel well-fed, we feel safe and secure, taken care of.
And bonus! Often taste goes hand in hand with smell, doubling the benefits of restful pleasantry! Try having some ginger cookies with a spiced tea or a gourmet grilled cheese with a hearty stew.

Touch – Calming the nervous system and slowing down our heart beat, touch plays a vital role in both our physical and emotional well being. While physical touch from another person is preferable and offers the most benefits – in the form of a hug, or in the case of massage, for example –  the soothing sensation provided by soft materials can add valuable advantage to feelings of security and contentment. How to add the benefits of touch to your surroundings? Try a soft woolen sweater, weighted blanket, or oversized knit pillows.

From soft blankets and warm colors to soothing scents, we hope these suggestions inspire you to make your home a haven of comfort. It’s the perfect time to embrace the cozy sensations that this beautiful season brings.

Let the cozy, contemplative spirit of autumn fill your soul and inspire you towards comfort and peace.
